What we do

What is pulmonary rehabilitation?

Pulmonary rehabilitation is a structured, evidence-based program that helps people with lung conditions breathe easier, move more safely, and feel more confident in daily life.

The Aroha approach

We start with a careful assessment of your symptoms, medical history, breathing tests where available, activity level, and personal goals.

Your plan may include safe exercise training, breathing techniques, airway clearance, education, lifestyle support, nutrition advice, and confidence-building strategies for flare-ups and daily activities.

The aim is simple: less fear around breathlessness, better stamina, stronger daily habits, and a clearer understanding of how to manage your lung health long term.

What pulmonary rehab can help improve
Reduced breathlessness
Better activity tolerance
Greater exercise capacity
Fewer hospitalisations
Better sleep & energy
More confidence day to day
Breathing retraining
Simple breathing techniques, including pursed-lip and diaphragmatic breathing, to reduce the effort of breathing
Supervised exercise
Physiotherapist-guided exercise to rebuild strength, stamina, and confidence step by step
Yoga & pranayama
Gentle yoga therapy and pranayama to support calmer breathing, posture, relaxation, and breath control
Disease education
Learn what your diagnosis means, what can trigger symptoms, and how to respond during flare-ups
Nutritional support
Practical food guidance to support energy, muscle strength, weight balance, and immunity
Dyspnea management
Practical tools to manage breathlessness, fatigue, and panic when symptoms suddenly feel worse
Vaccination & medication
Inhaler technique, medication routine support, and vaccine guidance for flu, pneumococcal, and COVID-19 protection
Airway clearance
Physiotherapist-taught methods such as ACBT, PEP therapy, and active cycle breathing to help clear mucus
Why rehab works

Breaking the cycle of breathlessness

When breathing feels difficult, it is natural to slow down or avoid activity. But over time, doing less can weaken the muscles, lower stamina, and make breathlessness feel worse. Pulmonary rehabilitation helps break this cycle safely and gradually.

Aroha helps you break this cycle by learning to:
Move in a way that uses energy and oxygen more efficiently
Reduce the effort of breathing with simple retraining techniques
Build strength and stamina gradually, without overexertion
Use yoga-based movement and breathwork to reduce fear around breathlessness
Feel more independent in everyday activities
Support your lungs and muscles with better nutrition habits
Protect your lungs with vaccination awareness, pollution planning, and allergy care
Breathless- ness Less activity Muscle weakness Fatigue & fear THE Cycle
Who we help

Conditions we treat

We support people with long-term lung conditions, post-infection breathing problems, allergies, and pollution-related symptoms. Every program begins with an assessment so your plan matches your diagnosis, fitness level, symptoms, and goals.

COPD
Emphysema or chronic bronchitis, especially when breathlessness affects walking, stairs, chores, or daily routines.
Most common
Asthma
Asthma that limits exercise, sleep, work, or daily activity — including exercise-triggered symptoms.
Yoga-integrated
Post-COVID & Post-TB Lung
Ongoing breathlessness, fatigue, cough, or reduced stamina after COVID-19 or tuberculosis.
High demand
Pulmonary Fibrosis
Interstitial lung disease, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and lung scarring that cause breathlessness and fatigue.
Bronchiectasis
Support for mucus clearance, repeated chest infections, cough, fatigue, and reduced stamina.
Pulmonary Hypertension
Carefully guided activity and breathing support for pulmonary hypertension and related conditions, when medically suitable.
Pre & Post-Surgery
Breathing and strength support before or after lung surgery, guided according to your medical advice.
Sarcoidosis & Others
Sarcoidosis, cystic fibrosis, neuromuscular breathing problems, and other lung conditions that limit activity.
Pollution-Related Lung Damage
Breathing problems linked to long-term exposure to polluted air, dust, smoke, workplace irritants, or environmental triggers.
Growing need
Seasonal Respiratory Allergies
Allergic rhinitis, hay fever, seasonal asthma, wheeze, cough, and fatigue triggered by pollen, dust mites, mould, or other allergens.
Preventive care
Evidence-based care

What pulmonary rehabilitation is designed to improve

walking distance and daily activity
breathlessness during routine tasks
strength, stamina, and exercise tolerance
confidence and quality of life
anxiety around breathlessness
breathing pattern and airway clearance
knowledge of triggers, inhalers, and flare-ups
long-term self-management habits
Adding life to every day. Pulmonary rehabilitation is one of the most important non-drug treatments in respiratory care. It helps many people feel less limited by breathlessness, stay active safely, and manage their condition with more confidence. Individual results vary and depend on diagnosis, severity, consistency, and medical stability.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Aroha is for adults with lung or breathing problems that affect daily life, such as COPD, asthma, post-COVID or post-TB symptoms, pulmonary fibrosis, bronchiectasis, pollution-related concerns, or seasonal allergy-related breathing issues. You should be medically stable before starting exercise-based rehabilitation.

A referral is helpful but not always required. During your free assessment, Dr. S**** will review your history and may ask for recent reports such as spirometry, chest imaging, oxygen readings, or prescriptions. Coordination with your local doctor may be recommended when needed.

Most programs run for 8 to 12 weeks. Your schedule may include live sessions, home exercises, breathing practice, education, and regular progress reviews. At the end, you receive a maintenance plan to continue safely.

Safety comes first. Your program is adjusted to your current symptoms, fitness level, oxygen needs, and medical stability. People with more severe conditions start gently and progress gradually under clinical guidance. If your condition is unstable or worsening quickly, in-person medical care is advised first.

You only need a smartphone, tablet, or laptop with a camera and internet connection. Most exercises can be done at home without special equipment. Your team will let you know if any simple items are useful.

Breathwork can help people become more aware of their breathing pattern, slow down panic breathing, improve relaxation, and support respiratory muscle control. At Aroha, yoga and pranayama are used carefully alongside medical and physiotherapy guidance — not as a replacement for treatment.

Yes. Aroha is designed for online care across time zones. Sessions are offered in English and Hindi, and scheduling is arranged based on availability.
